First Congregational Church of Maywood is a community of believers in Jesus Christ.

We believe in the freedom and responsibility of the individual soul, and the right of private judgment. We join with the fellowship of continuing Congregational churches in the Declaration of Faith adopted by the National Council of Congregational Churches in 1913.

Declaring the steadfast to the faith which steadfast allegiance to the faith which our fathers confessed, which from age to age has found its expression in historic creeds of the Church universal and of our communion., and affirming our loyalty to the basic principle of our representative democracy, we hereby set forth the things most surely believed among us concerning faith, polity and fellowship.

We believe in God the Father, infinite in wisdom, goodness and love; and in Jesus Christ, His Son, our Lord and Savior, who for us and our salvation lived and died and rose again, and liveth evermore; and in the Holy Spirit, who taketh of the things of Christ, and reveled them to us, renewing, comforting and inspiring the souls of men. We are united in striving to know the will of God as taught in the Holy Scriptures, and in our purpose to walk in the ways of the Lord, made known or to be made known to us. We hold it to be the mission of the Church of Christ to proclaim the gospel to all mankind, exalting the worship of the one true God, and laboring for the progress of knowledge, the promotion of justice, the rein of peace, and the realization of human brotherhood. Depending, as did our fathers, upon the continued guidance of the Kingdom of God; and we look with faith for the triumph of righteousness and the life everlasting.

First Congregational Church of Maywood is a member of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches (NACCC). We are in direct fellowship with all continuing Congregational organizations of the United States and with all churches which seek to promote the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our church building includes facilities for worship, education, fellowship, recreation and service.

            Pastor Elliot Wimbush

Pastor Elliot has been a long friend of First Congregational Church of Maywood.

In November of 2006 he accepted Gods call to become our Pastor. Pastor Elliot brings his love and knowledge of the Word of God, as well as his gift of music and enjoyment of the Lord to our services and fellowship. Under his guidance we have started many new out reach programs to engage our membership and our community to gain a closer relationship with God.

We hope that you will find in your heart to join us this month to help share in our joyful appreciation of Pastor Elliot's  ministry at First Congregational Church of Maywood.

Our Mission and Vision...

We are a Family of Faith centered on our common commitment to Jesus Christ, who is our Savior and Lord,  we celebrate our various gifts and diversity as a result of our unity in Him.

Worship is where we gather to celebrate our unity as members of the Body of Christ.  Reconciled to God through Christ’s incarnation, passion, death, resurrection and ascension we also have been given the ministry of being his presence in the world.  This conviction, in turn compels us to strive to be a congregation built upon the authority of Scripture and the Preeminence of Jesus Christ.

Our main tasks are revealed in Ephesians 4:12.  We seek to equip the saints for ministry, to do the work of ministry, and to build up the Body of Christ.  These objectives find direction in the following practical expressions of ministry:  Being in mission (inward/outward);  Becoming manager/stewards;  Educating and Nurturing;  Growing in spiritual discipline;  Advocating for justice;  Evangelizing.
